Everybody's favaourite sewer-dwelling psychopathic superhero. Checkers envisages himself as a cartoon/comic book character who goes out to fight crime by night. Unfortunately, all of his adventures are at least 90% hallucinated, and all of his arch-enemies are but figments of his out control imagination. By day, Checkers stays in his house, which is located deep down somewhere in the sewers. He spends his time, either watching 'The Box' -An old cardboard microwave box that Checkers stares at endlessly, rewatching and revising his crime-fighting adventures over and over in his mind. Checkers isn't exactly sure if he is actually insane, but he assumes that he is, because every thought that Checkers indulges becomes a full-on hallucinatory cartoon overload. Even though he has permanentlt exiled himself from humanity, Checkers is never lonely or bored, whenever he wants, he can call upon an entourage of imaginary cartoon animal friends to keep him company. Checkers is aware that most of his hallucinations are hallucinations, and can usually tell the difference. However, he often gets carried away and loses control of his wild imagination, getting lost in his cartoon fantasy world. Pain is one of the only things that can snap him out of it. Checkers truly believes that justice is worth fighting for, which is why he has taken it upon himself to be a superhero. He has a mountainous malignant tumour on his left eyeball which causes him great pain every time he senses or thinks about all the injustice in the world.

A very mysterious and fast-moving serial killer. Each night, Mutino claims another victim, murdering them with such exacting precision and cleanliness, he has baffled the police. Checkers has taken it upon himself to catch Mutino and goes out every night to find him before he claims his 13th and final victim.

Tirelessly searching for clues about Mutino, and carefully documenting and filing them away, the cops aren't seeming to be getting very far with their investigation. To Checkers, they are simoly in the way, he must avoid them at all costs, he avoids evryone at all costs, but the cops probably want to get Checkers for his own reasons.

Checkers' own little pet thumb-sized pink elephant! To Checkers, Thumbo represents the last remaining symbol of true goodness and hope. Small, endangered, and always in need of protection. Checkers' has vowed to always protect Thumbo from all the evils of the world. Thumbo supplies Checkers with almost super-strength and courage during his cartoon crime fighting battles.
